Position Purpose

The group fitness instructor reports to the Director, Assistant Director and the Fitness & Wellness Programming Graduate Assistant and is responsible for safely and effectively conducting a group fitness class for the Belmont Community

Lead class and demonstrate to patrons safe fitness and exercise techniques

Job Function

Create dynamic workouts within a safe & educational environment

Job Function

Put the needs of the participants of the group fitness class first in maintaining patrons safety

Job Function

Maintain and manage records in regards to class and attendance

Job Function

Develop a positive environment for patrons by greeting, encouraging and interacting with them

Job Function

Attend Reunions, CEUs, trainings and other developmental programs

Job Function

Assist with departmental wide events such as Polar Bear 5k, Turkey Troy & Ladies Night

Job Function

Other duties assigned

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Excellent oral communication skills with co-workers, supervisors, patrons and guests

Excellent customer interaction skills with co-workers, supervisors, patrons and guests

Ability to work outside conventional work hours (e.g. weekends, late nights and some holidays)

Experience

Prior experience in teaching group fitness classes

Must have a Bachelor’s Degree

Education

Must be enrolled as a current graduate student at Belmont University.
