Position Purpose

The Assistant Director position will assist the Director of Counseling in advancing the mission of the university. The position is responsible for providing direct mental health services to the student population, supervision of clinical staff and assist the Director in implementing appropriate crisis interventions.

Provide direct mental health services to students and assists with supervision of the full time clinicians.

Assist the Director in responding to crisis and developing protocols regarding crisis management tools.

Serve as contact for internal and external staff when Director of Counseling is not available.

Provides oversight of daily intake process and scheduling.

Job Function

Assist in developing referral resources for clients as well as serve as a liaison with newly developed mental health partnerships.

Provides on-call emergency coverage on a rotation schedule with clinical staff.

Job Function

Oversees the hiring and assignment of interns, assisting in development of relevant protocols pertaining to the program.

Job Function

Assists the Director with development of educational programming, convocation sessions, and group therapies.

Experience

Minimum 5 years experience in mental health counseling or directly related field.

Education

Master’s degree in mental health counseling; Licensure required

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions

Occasionally requires standing, walking, climbing stairs and occasional lifting, carrying, pushing and pulling loads up to 10 lbs. Frequently requires sitting and repetitious finger and wrist movement, seeing near and far with depth perception and color vision.
